Set in Eurasia, Africa, and the Americas roughly 100,000 years ago, during the peak of the first wave global human expansion. Sapient delves into the roots of humanity and seeks to tell a story set in a paleontologically accurate prehistoric world, featuring realistic depictions of now-extinct ecosystems and wildlife—a depiction of what life would have been like for our ancestors. The goal is to create a true-to-life recreation of the brutal world that our ancestors not only endured, but learned to thrive in.

Sapient follows the young Koa, an archaic human who has just lost his father. He then embarks on a globe-spanning quest to find a mystical healer who is said to have the power to resurrect the dead.

Sapient highlights the vast pool of knowledge we have of our ancient world, but it also seeks to explore what we don’t know about our mysterious past. What kinds of things have been lost to time? What sort of old gods did our ancestors worship? And what kind of influence did that unknown mystical element have on our evolution?

Sapient is going to explore these questions and more.
