S-T-A-Y C-O-Z-Y
I am based Salt Lake City, Utah where I live in a downtown apartment with my beautiful wife and our three cats.
All my life, storytelling has been an instinct, a compulsive desire that I could never ignore. It began with play, giving narratives and character arcs to simple playground games (and gettting frustrated when the other kids didn’t follow my carefully designed plot). From there, it expanded to compulsive daydreaming and brainstorming.
As for the technical skill of writing, my roots were molded in a unique blend of journalism and creative writing. From 2015 until 2017 I was the sports editor for my high school newspaper, the Alta HawkEye. I was a founding member who helped design the website, which is still active to this day (altahawkeye.org if you’re interested).
From there, I fell naturally into creative writing, where I found my lifelong passion. I would spend hours on end with my brother designing, outlining, and writing stories. My brother was my best friend, and creative writing was our shared passion. We had plans to author and illustrate a self-published graphic novel called Tarkantheon. It was intensely ambitious project designed to be a story told on a scale never seen before. However, my brother unexpectedly passed away in late 2020. From the grief of losing my best friend, I arose with a desire to make something more of myself, and I decided to honor him in the only way I knew how: to share our stories with the world.
From there, I dedicated my entire life to the craft. Six years later, here we are! I am an alumnus of Los Angeles Film School with a Bachelor of Science in Writing for Film and Television. While a degree doesn’t guarantee anything in this industry, I gained invaluable skills in school and I possess the work ethic and determination to find my way.
My specialty lies with a deep understanding of psychology and the human condition. Having experienced the highest highs and lowest lows of life. One side is death, trauma, poverty, struggle, and turmoil. On the other side is happiness, wealth, love, light, and the joys of success. I have experienced it all, and I bring those experiences into my writing. I’ve worked so many odd jobs and seen so many sides of life that I offer a unique perspective which bleeds into my work.
My characters often invoke the inherent flaws we all carry, examining the limitless avenues of growth that a person can experience across a personal journey; or not (some people never heal). This resonates primarily through my characters, which are meticulously designed with immense depth and attention to the subtlety of true personality. However, I have found through experience that this approach to writing also brings a certain richness to other elements of the story that is so satisfying it needs to be felt.
